These Amish storage benches are available in oak, cherry, and cedar. Cedar wood is one of the most popular wood choices in a chest because of its unique characteristics. Cedar wood is the best wood to repels insects and fungi; and it even produces a lovely smell. Cedar wood chests have become one of the most preferred storage chests used to store precious family heirlooms and any wool clothing.
If you prefer the look of the natural wood but you would like the cedar wood benefits, do not worry. All of the other storage trunk benches are available with cedar lining especially designed to store all your valuables.
Storage Chest Bench Features
Padded Bench Seat
On every storage chest bench, you will be able to choose whether or not to include a padded seat. Get a padded seat on your trunk and everyone will want to sit on it. It is the perfect seat to fit in small corner or at the foot of your bed. With over ten different material options to choose, you can find a pattern that suits your style.
Lock/Spring Loaded Hinge
Each storage trunk bench comes standard with a working lock to secure the items inside. Also, a spring-loaded hinge is installed in each trunk to help support the lid while you are storing your belongings.
Fancy Drawer Simulation
In addition, these storage trunk benches are available with simulated door and drawer fronts. If you are looking for more a “dresser” or a “cabinet” look, then this imitation drawer style front is perfect for you. Although the doors and drawers are only fake, this look will add class to your storage chest bench regardless of where you place it.
Cedar Bottom and Sliding Tray
There are several additional options to help make your trunk more personal. Each storage chest bench is handcrafted with a cedar bottom to help protect your belongings. Also, with an added sliding cedar tray, you will be able to store your smaller items just inside the lid for easier access.

I received my chest today. The workmanship is first rate, the finish is outstanding, the overall appearance is just beautiful. There is only one thing I am not particularly pleased with and I know that you will tell me, rightly so, that the grain of the wood is not something you can control. It does in fact make each piece unique. However, with the large amount of graining and coloration of these striations in the wood, the etching of the folk birds that I had requested does not show well on the front of the chest. Had this chest been one that was displayed in a store, I would not have selected this particular one due to the way the etching is masked in large part by the wood grain.
Thank you though for a well made chest that will become the family heirloom I had hoped.

I bought this for my parents 40th Anniversary. It arrived less than 3 weeks after the date that it was ordered (much quicker than expected since there were none in stock). The chest is breathtaking to say the least. It is almost a perfect match to my parents existing furniture in color and hardware just as the picture shows. It also has a working lock with 2 keys. Although this is more expensive than most chests (mostly because others are veneer) you see at the stores or online, this is definitely a heirloom piece of furniture that will be handed down for generations. My husband builds furniture as a hobby and he would have been happy to have built this chest, but he is in the middle of making a beautiful piece of furniture and I did not want to wait for him to finish. After searching retail stores for more than 2 weeks we were about to give up on the chest we dreamed about. Luckily we found the Amish Hand crafted website. The promised date of delivery was July 3 and the furniture arrived on June 28.
To say that we are very pleased with the quality,workmanship and overall service would be an understatement. We are thrilled with the chest. It can be scary to order a product on line for quite a lot of money without actually seeing a sample of what you are getting. Well we truly feel we got our money’s worth and more. Wow. WOW! These folks just don’t disappoint you, from the initial order, to the delivery of the beautiful finished product. You feel as though they CARE about your order, and it’s obvious that they take great pride in their craftsmanship. I just noticed that I wasn’t even charged for my chest until it ARRIVED and I had signed for it.
I had had a Lane Hope Chest, prior to my new Amish Hand Crafted chest. After thirty years of kids kicking it, the vacuum nicking it, and the dogs licking it, It needed a refinish job. Imagine my surprise, then, when my refinishing guy told me that the wood on the Lane chest was merely a veneer, and it was impossible to redo it! I was really shocked, and I then decided not to get another Lane. I searched online and found this website and these chests. And I’m soooo happy that I did. The samples they sent, for the stain colors, we’re very helpful in choosing between a few very close ones, and I was glad I waited to choose which stain color I wanted. I also requested that they make my seat cover from tapestry material that I had, and they not only did that perfectly, but they returned all of the remaining material.
The work was completed in exactly the timeframe they promised, and the shipping was PERFECT. The chest was very well protected, especially the corners, and I was very happy upon delivery. No question, I would order again from these woodworking artisans! 🙂

I just received my chest from Amishhandcrafted and it is beautiful. I ordered the rail series fancy front in the oak finish with the fierra tapestry. The chest is not only beautiful but is very well made and I was not home when it was unpacked but my husband said that it was packed so that it was very well protected in shipment. I have to admit that the chest is much larger than I had anticipated ( I had bought chests in the past for my daughters and granddaughter from another manufacturer and that were not this large) but I’m sure I will be able to fill it with my mothers treasured handmade quilts. First, I love that I could pick out everything to get this chest exactly the way I wanted it. I chose the large chest with oak for the wood and fully lined cedar on the inside.
