On each of our Amish cedar, you can choose to add a working lock and key. With a working lock on your vintage cedar chest, you can have peace of mind that your most valuable family heirlooms will be safe and secure.
Cedar Sliding Tray/Dovetail Joints
Inside the lid of your cedar wood chest, you can add an extra cedar sliding tray. With a smaller tray, you can keep your smaller items separate and at easy reach. Also, you can choose to add dovetail joints to the corners of your wooden cedar chest to give it an older look. Since dovetail joints can be quite challenging, your chest with dovetail joints will project the high quality craftsmanship. In addition, dovetail joints strengthen the chest overall, and give your chest more of a vintage style appearance.

The hardware is well chosen and substantial – the hinges are sturdy, well aligned, and nicely recessed; the support for the lid is strong and it latches securely in the open position. The design is simple to the point of being plain; the construction is very well done – no splinters or burrs or rough edges anywhere, (even on the bottom), and the finish is excellent. This is a beautiful piece of furniture that I bought for my wife to store her best clothes and blankets. The chest is both gorgeous and well built and nice and heavy as would be expected of solid cedar construction. I inherited a solid Lane cedar chest from my mother that is now over 90 years old. It is still aromatic and It will go to one of my children and now the Amish Handcrafted chest will go to another. Also. though I knew that it would take some time to make, the chest was delivered almost two months earlier than I expected, so kudos for that nice surprise also.
